It’s the time of year when evenings are getting chilly, trees are starting to turn to fall hues, and pumpkins are showing up everywhere, even in coffee.

Ah! Pumpkin Spice Lattes! It is a craze that in recent years takes over the American scene (especially social media) every Fall. And why not? What could go wrong with pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and coffee?

This year we decided to contribute to the craze by donning our aprons, making a mess in the kitchen, throwing together some ingredients, stirring, tasting, adding, tweaking….and somehow an amazing homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe emerged. Starbucks, you don’t have the monopoly on this thing! Here is how to make your own Pumpkin Spice Latte from the comforts of your own home.

Ingredients Needed

Makes approximately 4 hot Pumpkin Spice Lattes

  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 1/2 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1.5 cups of Milk or Cream
  • 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Coffee

The Javataza Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

Brew Some Strong Coffee

If you have an espresso machine, you can make a shot (or) two of espresso for your latte. Otherwise just brew some cups of coffee at double strength. You can use any good quality coffee, but if you want to add some extra flair try making your coffee with the Javataza Pumpkin Spice flavored coffee.

Make Pumpkin Spice Cream Concentrate

This is the magic (and the mess if you’re like us). Add all the ingredients (minus the coffee) into a kettle and stir continuously over medium heat until the mix is quite hot. Remove from heat before it reaches a boil.

This is now a pumpkin cream concentrate that can be used for both hot lattes and as a cold brew pumpkin sweet cream additive. This recipe should be enough for approximately 4 hot lattes.

Mix Coffee and Pumpkin Spice Cream

In a mug mix your hot coffee and your pumpkin spice cream concentrate together. You can adjust the amounts based on your preferences and the strength of your coffee, but we recommend about 3/4 cup of pumpkin spice cream to 1/4 cup of coffee. If you don’t get it right the first try you can always add more of either your coffee or your pumpkin cream.

Add the Final Touches

Put the final flair to your Pumpkin Spice Latte with a hearty dose of whipped topping and then sprinkle some cinnamon over the top. Now you’re ready to enjoy your work of art.
